The immune system, digestive system, and nervous system are all related to and, in part, supported by our Endocannabinoid system (ECS).
The ECS is a complex network of receptors, chemicals, and enzymes. It is interrelated with various systems in the human body and responsible for maintaining what is scientifically known as homeostasis and commonly known as balance and overall wellness.
When our bodies are in a state of homeostasis, we are able to function at our best! But in times of stress, we can be thrown off balance, which can negatively affect our mental and physical health.
There are a few things that we can be doing to support our ECS and overall wellness during these worrying times:
- Meditation: Taking 20 minutes out of the day to clear our minds can help combat the negative impact stress has on our ECS.
- Sleep: It’s usually easier said than done, but our ECS requires a good night’s sleep to function properly. Try your best to get 7 to 8 hours every night.
- Exercise: Even if you’re cooped up inside, there are still opportunities to get your body moving. Try doing pushups, planks, or squats to keep your body in shape.
- CBD and Other Phytocannabinoids: Phytocannabinoids (cannabinoids found in plants) including CBD can actually work within our body to promote balance and health.
